Again this year, the Utilities Telecom Council is offering Utilities Telecom Council's Fiber Optic Professional (FOP) certification program in conjunction with the Annual Conference, UTC TELECOM 2012.
The Level 2 training being offered will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 and will cover selecting, specifying, planning, integrating, and designing fiber optic communication systems for utility applications. This one-day technical primer consists of fiber optic transmission theory, types of optical fibers, fiber optic system design parameters, fiber optic cable types, termination and splicing, design considerations, cable management alternatives, underground route design, ADSS cable system design, OPGW cable system design, optical testing requirements, test results interpretation, standards and codes, and fiber optic safety considerations.
Target Audience: Designers, Planners, Managers and Supervisors.
The Level 3 training being offered will take place on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Completion of Level 2 is a requirement for this course. The course will cover optical theory, optical fiber, active devices, regeneration, optical multiplexing, dispersion, chromatic dispersion, polarization and test equipment.
Target Audience: Advanced System Designer and Planners
